Stained-Glass Hard Candy Cookies

Stained-Glass Hard Candy Cookies

Published October 13, 2026

Cutout sugar cookies with crushed hard candy melted inside their centers to create colorful translucent windows.

Crush each color separately so the windows stay vivid. Fill the windows level with the dough; overfilled candy runs over the sides.

Keeps 3 days airtight but humidity makes the candy sticky. Let the cookies cool completely on the sheet; the candy hardens to glass as it cools.

Make the dough
Beat unsalted butter (1 cup) with granulated sugar (1 cup) until light and fluffy.
