One-Pan Chicken and Rice Skillet

One-Pan Chicken and Rice Skillet

Updated October 14, 2026

Chicken pieces browned, then simmered with long-grain white rice, carrots, and peas in seasoned broth until the rice is tender and the chicken reaches 165°F.

Long-grain white rice to liquid ratio is 1 cup rice to 2 cups broth; with 1.5 cups rice use 3 cups broth. If the rice is still firm and the liquid is gone before it is tender, add 2 to 4 tablespoons of hot water, cover, and cook 3 to 5 more minutes.

Rinsing the rice removes surface starch and helps keep the grains separate. Cut the chicken into uniform 1-inch pieces so they cook evenly with the rice.
