Nerds Marshmallow Cereal Treats

Nerds Marshmallow Cereal Treats

Published October 13, 2026

Classic crispy rice cereal squares with a thin white chocolate layer and Nerds on top, so the candy keeps its tang and crunch.

Stir the white chocolate between microwave bursts; it scorches and seizes if overheated. Add the Nerds the moment the white chocolate goes on, while it is still wet; once it sets they will not stick.

Keeps 3 days airtight. White chocolate sets dry, so the Nerds stay crunchy longer than they would on a syrup glaze, though humidity will still soften them. Let the topping set fully before cutting so the Nerds stay put and the squares cut cleanly.

  • 6 cup crispy rice cereal
  • 2 oz white chocolate
  • ½ cup Nerds

Instructions

Prep the pan
Grease a 9x13-inch pan lightly or line it with parchment.
Equipment: 9x13-inch baking pan
Make the treats
Melt unsalted butter (4 tbsp) in a large pot over low heat.
Stir in mini marshmallows (10 oz) until completely melted and smooth.
Remove from the heat and stir in crispy rice cereal (6 cup) until coated.
Press lightly into the pan.
Equipment: large pot, 9x13-inch baking pan
Cool
Let the treats cool completely, about 30 minutes, so the topping won't melt into them.
Top with white chocolate and Nerds
Melt white chocolate (2 oz) in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.
Spread or drizzle it thinly over the completely cooled treats with a pastry brush or spoon.
Immediately sprinkle Nerds (½ cup) evenly over the top and press gently.
Equipment: microwave-safe bowl, pastry brush or spoon, pastry brush
Set and cut
Let the topping set for about 15 minutes, then cut into 16 squares.
